Advances in Multiomics Highlighted at RareBoost’s Advanced Genomics Symposium and Workshop

The Unifying Multiomics: Bridging the Gaps Symposium and Workshop, organized by RareBoost, took place at IBG on March 24, 2025. The event highlighted cutting-edge developments in genomic and transcriptomic technologies.

The day began with opening remarks by Prof. Uğur Özbek and continued with expert presentations by Prof. Ahmet Okay Çağlayan, Dr. Zafer Yüksel, Prof. Hanno Jörn Bolz, Dr. İbrahim Miraloğlu, and Prof. Tunahan Çakır. Talks covered a range of topics including multiomic analysis of rare diseases, the use of optical genome mapping in clinical and research settings, and the advantages of long-read sequencing platforms such as PacBio and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT). The critical role of RNA sequencing in understanding Mendelian disorders was also highlighted.

In the afternoon, participants joined a hands-on workshop led by Onur Yavuz, focused on the use of ONT long-read sequencing platform for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) diagnosis. Attendees conducted real-time data analysis using ONT’s platform, gaining practical insights into applying long-read technologies in a clinical setting.

This symposium and workshop were one of the RareBoost initiatives, reflecting our commitment to advancing the training of clinicians and researchers to enhance the diagnosis and research of rare diseases.
