The ERA Chairs project RareBoost will greatly facilitate the development of IBG’s rare diseases focus toward an international level of excellence in research and innovation.

IBG has already taken significant steps, nationally and internationally, towards research and innovation excellence in rare diseases.

RareBoost’s team involves several of IBG’s principle investigators and several rare disease experts.

IBG’s infrastructure is exceptional in Turkey in regard to quality, size and its unique composition. Furthermore, IBG has a strong and multidisciplinary faculty, and such a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach is considered optimal to address complex scientific questions like rare diseases. Major challenges in the field include ill-defined technical standards for disease data acquisition and sharing, limits in databases to correlate phenotypes with genomic variations and a scarcity of in vitro and in vivo models to study the underlying mechanism.

These challenges will be addressed by RareBoost.
