IBG-Nadir is holding a Rare Disease Research Image Competition
This is a competition that anyone can apply and can submit photographs and pictures on the theme provided representing breakthrough innovative research in rare diseases. The best one will be awarded, and prizes will be announced soon.
Theme: Capturing the moment of rare disease research
Objectives:
Through this initiative, we aim to highlight the intricacy, significance, and transformative power of rare disease research and discoveries, inspiring hope and highlighting the profound efforts to advance treatments for rare and complex conditions. This competition serve as a creative initiative for researchers, students, and scientists to visualize and share their work, capturing moments that define the future of rare disease research, innovations and discoveries.
We are looking for images that showcase the beauty, complexity, and impact of the rare disease research and discoveries. Images can be:
- Microscopic or scientific images
- Research photographs, or visuals
Deadlines:
- Submission date starts from 10th February and closes at 17th February. All submissions must be received by 4pm on 17th February to be entered into the competition. Submissions after the deadline will not be considered for the competition.
- The result will be revealed on the following date: 28th February 2025.

Rubrics for Evaluation:

Short Listing Criteria
- Image submissions will be first reviewed by the shortlisting panel to create selections that represents of career levels, spread of specialties and research areas. The selection will be done, based on the visual immediate impact of the image, its relevance and potential for effective communications and promotion.
- The three shortlisted images selected by the panel will then be subjected to social media voting, conducted across IBG’s and RareBoost’s social media platforms to determine the winner.
Condition of Participation:
- The competition is open to all life sciences students carrying out research in rare diseases throughout Turkey.
- Each participant can participate in the competition with only one entry and image.
- Only original photographs will be accepted into the competition and the photographs can be in color or black and white.
- The participants accept, declare and undertake that the photograph sent to the competition belongs entirely to him/her and that all permissions have been obtained.
- By submitting the application form and an image, entrants have ensured that all information submitted by them is true, current and complete.
- Entry into the competition will be deemed to constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.
- In the evaluation, in addition to the scientific content of the image, its originality, technical adequacy, artistic and visual impact will also be taken into consideration. The contribution of the image to the relevant scientific study will contribute to the evaluation.
Submission Instructions:
- Participants must submit the application form (downloadable from the website) along with the photograph, to be considered into the competition.
- Providing the short description of the photograph in the form is necessary to provide the background of the research.
- Applicants shall be responsible for ensuring that the contact details they provide are up to date and accurate.
- Participants must write down the place, date and time the photo was taken.
- The image format should be in JPEG and TIFF.
- The minimum size should be 512×512 with the minimum resolution of 72 dpi.
Terms and Condition:
- The competition has no fee for participation.
- By entering this competition, you are confirming that the organizers are authorized to use the photograph/image submitted by you for promotion including, but not limited to, website items, without limitation of time and not restricted to the competition provided that the organizing committee organizing the competition declares who the images belong to; and you are fully entitled to give this authorization.
- Entrants will retain intellectual property rights to their submitted image. Communications team of RareBoost reserve the right to reasonably amend descriptions of the image if needed, with agreement with the participant.
- If the winner cannot be contacted or decide to decline their prize, organizers reserves the right to select a substitute winner in their place.
