ERA CHAIR HOLDER

IBG is excited to invite applications to join us as RareBoost’s ERA Chair holder.

Benefits for the ERA Chair holder: 

The position will allow the candidate:

– to take a leadership role in basic and translational research into the underlying mechanisms of rare diseases.

– to establish and lead a new interdisciplinary Unit for Rare Diseases at IBG with wide autonomy and independence.

– to freely utilize laboratory space of at least 100 m2, with up to 6 positions for her/his group.

– to take advantage of IBG’s extensive basic and translational facilities and network in rare diseases.

– to interact closely with IBG’s multidisciplinary faculty.

– to obtain a 5-year contract (supported by the ERA Chair grant) with the option of a subsequent permanent, full time position.

Requirements: 

The successful candidate is expected:

– to hold a PhD/MD or equivalent and fulfill conditions specified in European Framework for Research Careers for established (R3) or leading (R4) researcher;

– to demonstrate an international reputation based on research excellence related to rare diseases and experience in managing and leading successful research groups;

– to demonstrate the ability to secure highly-competitive research funding and the capability to compete at ERC level;

– to demonstrate the ability to cooperate creatively with multidisciplinary research groups.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

The Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG, Turkey) is looking for a full-time Project Management Specialist to support the administrative and financial coordination of EU FP and international projects and other activities of the Project Management Office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have;

• Min. Bachelor’s degree,
• A minimum of 3 years of Project Management experience in the context of EU Framework Programmes and other international projects,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Turkish,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software such as PMP, IPMA, etc.,
• Skills including but not limited to: good team player, solution-oriented, investigative, advanced organization skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main tasks for this position would include:

• Supporting the project coordinator of EU FP and other international projects in realizing the activities specified in the Grant Agreements,
• Ensuring all project documentation is accurate and uploaded into internal and external claims systems,
• Monitoring project budget and preparing periodic financial reports to be submitted to the European Commission,
• Organizing periodic project meetings and preparing meeting minutes,
• Contributing to the planning and development of projects,
• Coordinating with different departments to ensure projects are completed on time.

FINANCE/ACCOUNTING AND PROCUREMENT OFFICER

The Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG, Turkey) is looking for a full-time Finance/Accounting and Procurement Officer to support financial aspects of EU FP and international projects and other activities of the Finance Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have;

• Min. Bachelor’s degree,
• A minimum of 2 years of Finance/Accounting and Procurement experience in the context of EU Framework Programmes and other international projects,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Turkish,
• Experience in operating financial/accounting management softwares,
• Skills including but not limited to: good team player, solution-oriented, investigative, advanced organization skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main tasks for this position will include:

• Monitoring the project budgets and preparing financial statements for projects,
• Contributing to the preparation and timely submission of project reports to the EU Commission,
• Ensuring compliance with EC Financial Regulations and implementing rules on financial/accounting principles and procurement activities at national and international level,
• Contributing to the planning, monitoring, and implementation of the IBG’s annual budget in line with relevant regulations,
• Preparing purchase orders, order forms, and specific contracts for projects,
• Applying internal controls, support and contribute to audits related to the area of responsibility,
• Undertaking other finance, procurement, and budget-related tasks at IBG as required and appropriate.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESEARCH ASSISTANT

The Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG, Turkey) is looking for a full-time Administrative Research Assistant to support the Principal Investigators at IBG.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have:

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience at providing senior level administrative support in a corporate or academic environment,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Turkish,
• Abiliity to efficiently manage time and prioritise tasks,
• Skills including but not limited to: good team player, solution-oriented, investigative, advanced organization skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main tasks for this position will include:

• Supporting the project coordinators of EU and other internationally funded projects in realising the activities specified in the Grant Agreements,
• Establishing and maintaining accurate documentation of all project-related processes and ensuring confidentiality,
• Organising periodic project meetings and preparing meeting minutes
• Managing travel arrangements (domestic/international),
• Undertaking other project-related duties as required and appropriate.

OTHER POSITIONS

In the context of RareBoost, we anticipate the following positions to open up in near future:

∙ Post-doctoral fellows: Qualified candidates with a strong background in various areas of biomedical sciences and a strong motivation to advance rare disease research will be invited to apply

∙ Ph.D. students: MSc holders in biomedical sciences with an interest in working on various areas of rare diseases will be invited to apply
