Training Officer (application period ended)

Position: Training Officer (in a researcher environment)

Description: The Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (IBG, Turkey; www.ibg.edu.tr) is searching for a Training Officer to support the Teaching & Training activities of its ERA Chairs project RareBoost (https://rareboost.ibg.edu.tr). The main tasks are (i) supporting the organization of RareBoost’s Teaching & Training events and (ii) the development, implementation, and delivery of training courses. The content of the Teaching & Training activities will revolve around Rare Diseases (all stakeholders) as well as advanced research and transferable soft skills (early stage researchers). This is a full-time, contract-based position at IBG.

Researcher Profile:First Stage Researcher (R1)

Research Field:Social or Natural Sciences

Education Level:Master’s degree or equivalent

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates should at least hold a Master’s Degree in the Social or Natural Sciences
  • 2+ years of experience in teaching, communication and/or outreach activities 

Skills/Qualifications:

The candidate is expected to have: 

  • Experience in teaching and delivering training in a professional setting.
  • Experience in traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to explain complex topics to non-experts.
  • Experience in organizing events, like conferences, exhibitions, press tours.
  • Experience in preparing communication materials and social media activities for external and internal audiences.
  •  Strong organizational and time managing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, e.g. to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals

Further information and how to apply: The position is open and can be filled as agreed upon. Remuneration is secured via the RareBoost for the 4 years of the project’s lifetime, however, continuous employment through future projects is anticipated. The application should include:
